Customs Import-Export Limits: What You Can Actually Bring

If you're moving stuff into Thailand or taking things out, know the hard limits before you pack. Currency over 20,000 baht or equivalent foreign cash must be declared—no exceptions, no gray area. Personal goods for your own use come in duty-free up to reasonable limits, but "reasonable" gets questioned fast if you've got multiples of anything that looks commercial. Electronics, jewelry, and high-value items get flagged; bring receipts or documentation of ownership. Prohibited items include narcotics, weapons, counterfeit goods, and certain protected animal products—that's a hard no, and penalties are serious. Thailand customs officers work the same way I did: they're looking for what you're not telling them. Get specific on what you're bringing before you arrive; vagueness at the border gets you detained while they figure it out.
